Cranky Thursday
Dear audience -
I walk to work. Not far, only about a 10 minute mosey. Not for green reason, not for health reasons. Mostly for money reasons - parking permits at my university cost about $60 per month. So much coffee can be bought for $60. The thing is, mostly I am neutral about this process. I don't hate it, I don't love it. On the plus side, I have time to think about my To Do List on the way to work, and think about what is on TV on the way home. Except when it is cold out. And snowy. And icy. Then every step is torture, and dreadful, and hated. Since it was 9 degrees (F) as I walked to work this morning, this was a dreaded hateful day.
You know what I hate. Entitled drivers. Just because I stopped before you ran me down while you turned left across the crosswalk I was in, does NOT mean I was conceding the right-of-way to you. Do NOT wave in thanks to me. You are not welcome.
Also, my dear friend EGE, you are wrong. Wrong wrong wrong. I am not sorry I pushed the walk button and didn't wait around for it to turn. It was cold. And windy. I did, and will always, cross the street at the first opportunity. I don't care if you, in your nice cozy warm, dry car, had to wait 1 extra minute to get on your merry way. Ditto when it's summer and 95 degrees (F) and 95% humidity. Sometimes I do it even on a beautiful spring day. And I will continue to do this until walk signals are automatically part of the cycle. The real difference between you in your car, and me on the sidewalk...It is guaranteed that you will get to go again within a certain amount of time. Me, I am at the whim of the traffic, unless I use my all powerful finger.
Wanna know a secret? Now that EGE has pointed it out ... sometimes I push the button even if I have no intention of crossing at that light. Don't worry I only do it when I am irritated with drivers.
Yours in ranty subversion,
suckbrain
